1. Why are we doing this raffle?
Participation in any highly competitive and selective youth “club sports” be it soccer, baseball, softball or volleyball can be very costly. HP recognizes the personal commitment and cost burden families take on to provide their children the opportunity play HP club volleyball. We are committed to ensuring your experience at HP is as affordable as possible for every player that chooses our program. Historically, we have done several things to reduce costs that otherwise must be passed to our families. We currently earn revenue through HP volleyball programming, camps, tournaments, clinics, outdoor volleyball, etc. Our annual HP Trivia Night, put on by club volunteers, generates a significant amount of money that is directly deposited into individual and team accounts. We have increased our efforts to obtain sponsorships and partnerships to further reduce costs. These extra efforts generate revenue that is used to reduce the cost burden that would otherwise be passed on to the families of our teams. We are proud to say that only 60% of the overall club cost structure is paid by our families. Our goal is to get that number down to 40% making HP not only the best choice for boys or girls volleyball in the St. Louis area but the most affordable too! As Scott mentioned at our fall commitment nights, our optional and mandatory fundraising efforts are an attempt to give everyone in the club a better experience while creating an opportunity for our families to lessen their out of pocket expenses. This particular fundraiser requires little effort and provides high return on investment.
2. What are some of the programs that we will be funding with these revenues?
· Volleyball Academy for 12s-18s girls, and 15s-18s boys.
· After School Program for 13s-18s girls, and 15s-18s boys.
· Additional coaching assistance.
· Training and Conditioning Equipment.
· Extra practices for all teams.
· College Recruiting Seminars and Meetings.
· Coaches Education and Development
3. Does every family have to participate?
Every family and coach has been asked to sell tickets. Most players have a minimum, which the family is required to sell. Minimum sales requirements were determined by Club leadership, factoring in the amount of resources used by teams, and will be higher at the older age levels. The requirement for your family will be sent to you in your Intro email.
4. What happens if my family chooses not to participate by selling raffle tickets?
If you choose not to sell raffle tickets, your account will be invoiced for an amount equivalent to what your mandatory participation would have been. Funds that are invoiced in this manner will not be used to purchase raffle tickets. Please consult your tax advisor about the tax deductibility of this type of transaction.
5. How do I know if anyone to whom I forwarded the info bought a ticket?
All tickets sales are tracked electronically to the originator. Individuals will be able to log on and see how many tickets they have sold. It is not uncommon for more than half of the sales to come from outside the metro area.
